A.U.TH club

The Suibukan club of the Aristotle Univercity of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.) was created in November 1994 by sensei Velissariou Panagiotis. Since its creation it continues to offer knowledge and joy to the students of A.U.TH.

In the beginning it was located in the open basketball court of the A.U.TH. gymnasium. One could say it a heroic attempt by the first 50 students for the survival of the club. Unfortunately the univercity itself was not able to support such an innovative idea. So the next location was found. It was the foyer of the theater at the student campus that was thankfully provided by the administration. Its advantages were that it was an indoor space with sufficient lighting. On the other hand the floor was made of marble and after each time a party or an election was held in the foyer a severe cleaning effort was necessary in order to bring the foyer back at a reasonable condition for training. It was another heroic period that was survived for 9 years.

But from September of 2003 this place was also made unavailable to the club for unknown reasons up to date. On the contrary the club was the only user of the foyer that systematically cleaned it. So the club was transfered to the facilities of the dojo of Toumba that was created from the students that participated in the club for the first four years.

The years 2007-2008 an alternative solution was put to the test. Training in the open space of the univercity, right outside of the library. Despite the difficulties once again the club presence was honored with positive comments.

Since then the club is in search of an appropriate location in the univercity. But until one is found the club continues its operation hosted at the facilities of the Suibukan dojo of Toumba.
