sensei Ikonomidis

Sensei Simos Ikonomidis, 3 dan in Kobayashi Shorin Ryu Karate Do and 2 dan in Matayoshi Kobudo, is a disciple of shihan Velissariou and sempai in Salonika dojo, Thessaloniki. He started training in martial arts in 1995, at the age of 24, with the Suibukan Club of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Since then he has attended most of the seminars given (in Greece) by hanshi Yamashita and kyoshi Polychronopoulos. At the level of brown belt he becomes sempai in the AUTH club. At the level of black belt (1st dan in 1999) he teaches as instructor in the AUTH club as well as in the Salonika dojo, of which he is a founder member. He has also taught self-defense classes.

He has a Physics degree and a M.Sc. in Environmental Physics and he is a Ph.D. candidate. He is a freelance translator, specialized in science and European Union affairs. He has written an astronomy book and a novel.
