5 Dan

The spring 2011 seminar of hanshi Tadashi Yamashita in Greece.

Kyoshi Babis Polychronopoulos is one of the most noted trainees of hanshi Tadashi Yamashita. He holds the rank of 8th dan in Kobayashi Shorin Ryu Karate do and a 7th dan in Matayoshi Kobudo. Having been practicing martial arts for more than 40 years, in Greece as well as in the U.S.A., he has established himself as one of the most integrated trainers/masters worldwide.

In Greece, he is the founder of the Suibukan Martial Arts Organization and has inspired thousands of students to delve into the martial arts, quite differently from what one would experience in the contemporary martial arts world today.

Faithfully following in the steps of his teacher, master Tadashi Yamashita, kyoshi Polychronopoulos has established his training and teaching on transparent principles, not on fancy passing impressions. He continues to study and experience the “do”.

Sensei Chris Dimopoulos is a personal student of kyoshi Polichronopoulos. Holder of 3 dan in Kobayashi Shorin Ryu Karate do and 2 dan in Matayoshi Kobudo. With more than 15 years experience in martial arts he is the head instructor of the Suibukan club of the Xatzivei School. Training continuously taking part regularly in seminars of kyoshi Polichronopoulos as well as with master Yamashita.

Born in Pireaus in 1976, and after staying in several cities in Greece and in London, he is now staying in Anixi, Athens, with his wife and two children.

Xatzivei Club was founded in 2001 with instructor sensei Taki Mersini, (4 dan), personal student of the Head of the Organization in Europe kyoshi Babis Polychronopoulos (7 dan).

The training is taking place in the Gymnastics Room of the Xatzivei School. The students of the Xatzivei Club are taught Shorin ryu karate do, Matayoshi kobudo and Suikendo.

The Hombu Dojo, or simply put, “Main” Dojo, is the actual place where the instructors of the organization are trained and developed. It’s where the family – or ryuha – gathers. It’s where the foundations of the “do” come to life. The dojo sets the foundation for the development and the training of instructors.
